The Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association/the bar association of Luzerne County and its Young Lawyers’ Division sponsored an attorney admission ceremony at the Max Rosenn U.S. Courthouse in Wilkes-Barre for attorneys to be admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The ceremony was presided by Federal District Judge Robert D. Mariani, who was joined on the Federal Bench by the Hon. Malachy E. Mannion and the Hon. Joseph F. Saporito Jr.
Moved for admission was Attorney Robert L. Gawlas, by his father, Robert N. Gawlas Jr., and Attorney Corey S. Suda, who was moved for admission by Attorney Edward J. Ciramboli.

The Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association and its Young Lawyers’ Division sponsored an attorney admission ceremony at the Luzerne County Courthouse. The ceremony was presided over by the Honorable Richard M. Hughes III, the President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Luzerne County, and featured an enbanc, court, consisting of the Honorable Joseph M. Augello, the Honorable Thomas F. Burke Jr., the Honorable Lesa S. Gelb, the Honorable David W. Lupas, and the Honorable Jennifer L. Rogers. Also sitting were the Honorable Correale F. Stevens of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania, and the Honorable Joseph M. Cosgrove of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court. Representing the bar association at the ceremony was President, the Honorable Joseph J. Van Jura; Association Vice President, Attorney Jane M. Acri; Secretary Treasurer, Attorney Joseph P.J. Burke III. And from the Young Lawyers, Young Lawyers' President, Attorney Diana M. Collins; and Young Lawyers' Treasurer, Attorney Mary E. Prescott.
Five attorneys appeared before the court and were admitted. Moved for admission was Attorney Robert L. Gawlas, by his father, Attorney Robert N. Gawlas Jr. Attorney Brian J. Panella, the son of Judge Jack Panella of the Pennsylvania Superior Court, was moved by Judge Stevens. President Judge Hughes moved for the admission of Attorney John F. Higgins, who had served as his law clerk. Judge Cosgrove moved for the admission of Attorney Hillary P. Flack. And, Attorney Corey S. Suda, was moved for admission by Attorney Edward J. Ciramboli.

Judges and lawyers of the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association/the bar association of Luzerne County recently gathered to elect officers and a governing council for the 2016 year. Retired Judge Joseph Van Jura was elected president, while Attorney Jane M. Acri was elected Vice President. Attorney Joseph Burke III was elected Secretary and Treasurer. Lawyers elected to the county bar's Executive Committee include: Attorney Barry H. Dyller, Attorney Girard J. Mecadon, Attorney Lee Ann Palubinsky, and Attorney David E. Schwager. Judge Van Jura replaces Attorney Elaine Cook, of Drums, who finished serving two successful terms as president. The nominations were presented by Attorney Arthur L. Piccone, who serves as the chair of the association's nominating committee.
